family baking at the holidays

Start Creating your Holiday Traditions in Your New Home

The holiday season is upon us! No matter if you celebrate Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa or all three, our family is excited to share the holiday spirit with yours. We’ve put together four decorating tips to minimize stress and maximize festive cheer with your family during the season of giving.

  1. Plan ahead – During the holidays, you may be quickly overwhelmed by your list of to-do’s. The reality is, you can’t do everything so take an afternoon to sit down with a hot cup of cocoa, notepad and jot down a realistic decorating game plan. Feeling overwhelmed or not putting enough time aside for self care can quickly deplete your holiday cheer.
  2. It doesn’t have to break the bank – Budget-friendly ornaments and decor from discount stores can cozy up your space and present an air of refined festivity when paired together. We recommend jazzing up your mantel with glass containers or mason jars filled with brightly colored ornaments for a stunning holiday display. Another pro tip is to drop by your favorite retail stores after the holidays to take advantage of huge discounts and sales on postseason decor.
  3. Involve the family – There’s no need to complete all of the holiday decorating on your own. Bring the family into the fold for wreath making, tree decorating, gift wrapping, and cookie making! Remember that you’re giving your family the opportunity to create cherished memories, new family traditions and stories they will pass onto their own children some day!
  4. Remember to breathe and enjoy – Most of us are familiar with the physical and mental toll the holidays can take, but when it doubt, don’t forget to remind yourself this time of year is about surrounding yourself with loved ones near and dear, cherishing your time together and counting your blessings. Inhale. Exhale. Enjoy.

Happy Holidays from the Herbert Family!
